John was a lovely man and really good to our mum, taking her out on lovely trips and holidays. I'm so glad they were together and made each other happy. I expect they are together now and still having a good time.

John was a very good friend to my mum Joan and they enjoyed lots of time together going on day trips out, coach trips and holidays. I believed both mum and John shared a special bond especially over the last 10 years before mum died of dementia at which point John really missed her. I recall one 5 day coach trip they made down to Warners at Sinah Warren on Hayling Island which was near where we used to live. We arranged to pick them up and give them a tour around the island then after dropping them off to freshen up we arranged to meet them both in the evening for a nice meal in the Warners restaurant. I know both mum and John really enjoyed that holiday togetherand seeing Ann and me again. Mum used to call John her toy hoy as he was 5 years younger which we thought was very funny. In the early days of mum and John getting together every few weeks when John wS up to mums he used to constantly tell us about his customers from his gardening work and how good they were to him. We now hope their spirits meet up again in the after life and may they both rest in peace together.

A very special man and a big part of our family, sharing all our family special times. It was a privilege to know him. A very kind man who ‘ loved his boys’. Family meant a lot to him and he was so proud of them. Rest in peace John.

Dad was a tough man who worked hard all his life as a self-employed carpenter/decorator, & helped teach me the value of DIY skills, as I accompanied him around in his work van in my early years. He was the last survivor & the oldest of 5 siblings. Although seperated from my mum back in 1988 & later divorved, he found new romance with Joan, his lady friend of many years before she sadly passed away in 2016. After dad passed away, I found many pictures of him on holiday with Joan that I'd never seen before & it was a delight to see him & them so happy.

He will be deeply missed & fondly remembered – RIP Dad.

  • Dad was always proud of his motors. Here he is next to his beige Ford Sierra from the mid-1980's. Not sure where this was taken.

  • Dad has loved fish & chips since I can remember. He would always find an excuse to have them instead of any other meal, no matter what the occasion. Everytime I have fish & chips from now on, I will always be reminded of him.
