Brian passed away peacefully at home on 21st November 2023, aged 87 years. A devoted husband to the late Jean, adored dad to Adam and Jane, treasured grandad to Matthew, Nicola and Koby, great grandad to Kai and brother in law to Margaret.

Brian hired me for my first job after uni. I still remember the interview, trying to sound that I knew what I was talking about, when I obviously didn't, but Brian still saw potential in me. He was softly spoken but was clear on what needed to be done. Open to ideas but careful in how these were applied. A great model of what a manager should be and doing so with ease. His example will be missed.

Hi Willie - I wonder if your application was one of the ones I helped Dad sort through. If so then you must have neat handwriting as people who had messy handwriting were not considered. Thank you for your kind words.

I have known Brian for over 20 years since started working at IRM. He was a great boss and a true motivator . He speaks his mind and a genuine critic on various things including current politics. I enjoyed having a chat with him. I am sure Brian will be missed by so many people including myself. My heartfelt condolences to his family and may his sole rest in peace.

Brian, I will miss your cheery smile and friendly hugs at our Bowel Cancer Support Group. Thank you for being such a kind and supportive friend. We had some fun and laughs didn't we? I'll never forget the twinkle in your eye, your lovely smile and the compassion you showed in our group.

My late wife Elinor and I knew Jean and Brian from their lengthy stays in the USA in Februaries. Brian was a quiet man with strong convictions. He was a wise man who didn't flaunt his intellect. He was a friend in deed and all his friends knew they could count on him. He was a man of principle but he respected your principles as well. We lived in different lands but I feel his loss as if I were his neighbor. RIP Brian. May your memory be a blessing.

Brian talked about you a lot. I think you did crosswords together across the miles? When I first met him he told me that he was planning on coming to see you..... then confessed that he might not. We really tried to encourage him to make the journey.

Brian was a good man. I worked for Brian for a number years and I always found him fair and reasonable with measured judgment. It was pleasure to work with him; something one cannot say for all bosses.
