We are having a 'celebration of life' in loving memory of wonderful Alex who tragically passed away on 16th August 2023, a star that shone bright and for far too short a time.

Beautiful, kind, charismatic, intelligent, generous Alex – you are utterly irreplaceable, gone too soon and will forever live in our hearts until we meet again.

Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts for being part of Alex’s life and of our lives. We are profoundly grateful for all the visible and invisible webs of love and support that you are weaving around all us now and in years to come.

We will need you and we will be here for you.

On a more practical note, Alex was 'LARGER' than life - black doesn't feel right, please wear colour - as vibrant as you like. If you have any 'silly socks' then wonderful - Alex adored nonsense - part of the reason we loved him so bloody much.

Please e mail flyingonthermalsoflove@gmail.com for details of local accommodation and for webcast login details (if you are unable to attend in person).

Love from Katherine, Thomas, William and Oscar x

So shocked and saddened by the terrible news of Alex's passing. I will always cherish the fond memories of the time we spent in Cork with the four of us. We met playing 'the miser', but I can hardly imagine a more generous person than Alex!

Our thoughts are with you all.
Sorry that we could not attend in person...but the webcast allowed us to watch the service - a lovely celebration of Alex's life and many lovely words of recollection and reflection.

I'm sorry I couldn't make the funeral. The world is a little darker since Alex left but reading through all of these comments he gave so much love and joy to so many. Alex, you are, and will always be missed.

Don’t judge the shirts, it was the Noughties. His style (hopefully/may have) changed, but I know his fun loving didn’t! So sad to have missed his send off, and will share some other great images shortly! He made my early years in London incredibly fun!

A really beautiful service yesterday, an honour to be there and pay tribute to Alex (wearing bright red socks!). The number of people there bore testament to how Alex impacted us all - for me a brilliant work colleague who I thoroughly enjoyed working with and who always had a smile and a positive outlook. I came out of every chat with him feeling more positive. An honour to have known him.

Alex greeted me with open arms when I first came to UCC. He was so kind generous, fun and full of devilment. I admired him greatly. I always enjoyed seeing him on his return visits to UCC. My sincere condolences to you all. Alex was a truly individual soul who inspired many. JP Quinn UCC

Alex was indeed a wonderful person. He always had a smile and a laugh and he was immensely popular at the London Gliding Club. He has left a big gap in the club, so I cannot even imagine how great his loss must feel to his family. My sincere condolences to you all. Sorry I was unable to attend today.
