In loving memory of Irene Dawson who sadly passed away unexpectedly on the 2nd August 2023 at Basildon Hospital at the age of 80.

Irene will be remembered as a devoted mother to Richard and Rachel, grandmother to Nathaniel and Connell and mother-in-law to Tracey.

Irene who was born in Birmingham started her working life as a bookkeeper and retired following working in retail for 30 years.  Irene enjoyed many adventures going on holidays, weekends away, theatre trips and a cruise - it even went so far as hot air ballooning although scared of heights.  Due to this she also accumulated many pairs of shoes!  Following retirement, she liked a weekly paddle followed by lunch and relished keeping her mind occupied with games, electronic jigsaw puzzles and streaming series on TV - she was often seen cuddling with the cat.  

Irene was heavily involved in the Guiding movement for over 20 years running one of the local Brownie Packs in Thorpe Bay.  

Irene will be missed by all.

We welcome you all to join us straight after the funeral to reminisce and celebrate the life of Irene at The Rose Inn, Wakering Road, Great Wakering, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS3 0PY.

I only met your mum several times, however she will always stay in my memory as a lady I have the utmost respect and regard for. I will miss her shared adoration for her beautiful garden and her unique humour.
