In loving memory of John Noel Montague Whitbread who sadly passed away on 10th July 2023

John, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather will be sorely missed by us all.

He spent his whole life around the Thorpe Bay and Leigh area either on the water with the sea scouts sailing; singing with various Southend choirs; assisting in many roles at St Margaret's church and attending to his garden. In any of these roles and more you may recall your own personal memories of the impact he made on yourself, but for his family he will always be the thoughtful, if not cheeky, caring man to whom we all looked up to with respect and were proud to call our father.

So many memories of sunny and a fair few rainy days at the Thorpe Bay beach-hut that my Uncle John repeatedly had to get resurrected after a storm had wiped it out so that we kids could enjoy what were probably my first 10 sand and sea holidays. John, along with my Dad his elder brother, often kept us all fed and entertained. Some of my happiest childhood memories were in his company and are treasured.

We are so sorry that we can't be there in person for his send-off but rest assured we will be there in spirit.

The sad loss of a kind and caring man. Great fun at the chaotic family Xmas gatherings and a dab hand at cards.
My sister and I are very grateful for the support and watchful eyes that John and Jill provided to our parents in their final years.

For John, my uncle who I'll always remember with love for - amongst many things - your various talents like on the beach and sea when we were kids, and in 62's gorgeous garden, also your and Jill's long and happy marriage. I so appreciated your encouragement of my wanderlust and kind support in my own care experience.
Your laughter that was never far away right to when we last met, and your blue eyes atwinkle, will never fade.
