In loving memory of Mary Jeane Plumley who sadly passed away on 25th June 2023, aged 93 years.

No flowers please but donations, if desired for Guide Dogs may be made online via this site.

Mary Jeane Plumley [Nee Martin] 1929 – 2023 93 years young
Daughter of Annie and Henry Martin, Mary’s father passed while she was a young child [aged 2/3] residing at 11b Longley Road Rochester. Annie passed in the March of 1964, surviving to see a grandson born, 1961.
Mary was younger sister to Joyce Rudd who sadly passed in 2017, the same year as Mary’s husband of more than 60 years: Jeff Plumley.
Several cousin / second cousins survive Mary as well as her nephew Brian Rudd, here today with his family Michaela and Tom. to pay their respects and say their goodbyes.
Mary, as a child and growing up, was not one for staying indoors, she was a young spirited person, always looking for adventure. As the extrovert of the two sisters Mary was always making new friends, and in her words – “always enjoying life”!
This was evident whilst at home in Rochester, in Nantyglo, S Wales [1940 as a child evacuee], and later in life with Jeff in Austria when they met Liz & Axel Krueger – Liz becoming very much part of the family and being regarded as their daughter.
Mary & Jeff worked together at C.A.V Rochester [she in the cost office and Jeff in the warehouse] where they met and soon after married on Saturday 6th October 1956 at St Margarets church Rochester.
The happy couple moved into 107 Crestway Chatham, making it their home for the rest of their married life and making good friends with many neighbours. Being two very easy-going down to earth people, not materialistic nor interested in technology, it was all about traveling, seeing the world and enjoying each other and life’s adventures.
A special thank you must go to Dave & Jill Austin [Mary & Jeffs good friends and neighbours for many years], Tracey [home help and carer], and all staff at Rogers House [especially Emma] for taking great care of Mary in her last days.
X
