Helen Priest (5 Jun 1961 - 28 May 2023)

In loving memory of Helen Priest who sadly passed away on 28th May 2023

Helen was a larger than life character who almost everyone in Alfreton knew. She lived and worked in Alfreton all her life starting work at Northgate in 1977. In 1984 she married Ian and a year later their daughter Emma was born. Helen then worked as a bar maid at the Red Lion and made many friends there, later going over the road to the Travellers Rest, again working for Chris and Gerry. Helen, Ian and Emma enjoyed many holidays in the UK and abroad, especially in Florida with her Mum and Dad and in Spain with Rob and Barbara, Sarah and Richard. Helen made many friends working at David Nieper for years and enjoyed going out with them all. Helen and Ian spent a lot of time with Julie and Jeff, going for weekends away, on holidays abroad and to concerts. In 2019, Emma became pregnant and Helen was absolutely besotted with her grandson Alfie. Helen lived life to the full until earlier this year when she became ill. Her younger brother Stephen came over from Australia to see her. 8 weeks after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, she passed away peacefully at home, with Ian, Julie and Jeff by her side. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The funeral service will take place at Swanwick crematorium on Friday June 9th at 12.00 mid day. And afterwards at Palmer Morewood memorial club. Family flowers only, but any donations would be greatly received for cancer research
