I was at Brentford's home game v Man City today and the news of Steve's passing was on the big screen at half-time and in the programme. It was Steve who got me into the Bees when we worked together at Charing Cross Travel Centre in the early 1980s. One Saturday, he and I were on the same early shift and he invited me to join him and his dad at a game that afternoon. Even though it was a goalless draw, I was hooked. I last saw Steve in August 2020 when we met for lunch at the Griffin pub in Brentford and then did the tour of Griffin Park, walking up to the new ground afterwards. I was hoping we could meet up for one of the friendlies in the off season but sadly it's not to be. RIP Steve.
