A Calne girl through and through Diane was a petite and competitive classmate from grammar school. She gave her time to help others. She and Richards time together began at school and their devotion to one another survived through thick and thin. The dynasty will live on in their daughters and their offspring.
Part of a song for Richard.....
“I’ll walk beside you through the passing years. Through days of sunshine joy and tears and when the great call comes the sunset gleams. I’ll walk beside you to the land of dreams.”

Diane, my Sister-in-Law, picture taken late Summer 1985
Diane, you ran the Race of Life and in typical style arrived a little too early. Although unseen, the Memories we have will stay with us forever. We can still talk with you, laugh with you, smile with you just as always. Between you and Richard (Harry) , you showed your girls how to be free spirits and to live the best life possible and we are all very proud of them.
Yes, a Heartache that doesn’t heal but thoughts that no-one can steal.
Thank you Diane, a Race well run,
Will and Jan

So sad to say farewell to Diane who I have known throughout our school days since we started at Holy Trinity School in 1956. Picture I have added shows us setting off for our first day at Bentley Grammar in 1962.
She was a great friend and the fastest runner winning every race at unforgettable speeds.
We are thinking of you Richard and family.

So sad to get the news about Diane, we've been friends since Holy Trinity School when we were 5 years old. I have lovely memories of her speed on the sports field and never held it against her for beating me every time in the relay!
Bless you Di.

Its very sad that Dianne has passed away far too early. I am an old classmate from Bentley Grammar school and when we got to the 6th form, Dianne and I became House Captains for Lansdowne House - desperately trying to 'keep order' during a Thursday morning House Assembley! I still remember what a great athlete she was - she could run like the wind with her hands seeming to slice through the air as she sprinted! A quiet but very competent girl at that time - so glad she had a happy marriage with the blessing of children & grandchildren.
