Our Dziadek

Always a true gentleman
Raising your hat in the street
To smile and say good morning
To the people that you meet

Wearing a tie at every mealtime
And sitting upright at the table
Teaching us about discipline
And commanding respect was your label

Your jokes and kawaly were legendary
A punchline was never missed
You entertained us for hours
With all the stories on your list

You passed away aged 98
A milestone so few reach
A lifetime of your achievements
To our little ones we’ll teach

You leave behind a son and daughter
And six grandchildren so caring
Your spirit will live on through us
With the memories we’ll be sharing

Your legacy will live on forever
And we are so proud to say
You gave the community a wonderful gift:
The church in which we stand today

Well Dziadek that time has finally come
For us to say goodbye
You’re joined again with our dear Babcia
And all the other angels in the sky

Sleep peacefully in God’s hands
In our hearts you will remain
Dobranoc Dziadek, we’ll miss you
Until we meet again

  • Dear Karolinka, Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace to your grandfather and to my great-uncle, just from these photos I can tell what a wonderful man he was and he will be sorely missed. My name is India Rajchel and I am Stanislaw's great-niece, Zdzislaw's granddaughter. I have been trying so desperately to find the rest of my family as I personally do not have any contact with those who are left of my Dziadek's family. If you are okay with it, I would love to get in contact with you. My email is rajchelclaybourn@gmail.com, please feel free to email me if you ever see this message. Love, India

To Andrzej, Halina and your families,
A remarkable man who led a truly remarkable life. We particularly remember him as a key member of the Polish Community and Church in Nottingham. His commitment to service with the Church, Club, St Cecilia’s Choir and the Polish Youth Club (KSMP) was over so many years. We remember him going off to choir practice as well as parish meetings with our Tata. He was a good friend and neighbour to our parents, along with his wife Tosía. We particularly miss his jokes and sense of humour. May he rest in peace together with his wife Teofila as they proudly watch over their extensive family. Never to be forgotten. Love from Danusia and Jola Drozak

To our dear Dziadek and Pradziadek,
So sad that you have gone but so proud that you reached 98 years old and that you lived to meet my two beautiful children. I will always be thankful of the final times we had together in September when you met James for the first time. We will carry with us forever all the wonderful memories from childhood, spending precious time with you and Babcia, especially overnight stays at your bungalow on Cherrywood Gardens and day trips out in the holidays. Memories of our walks down Spring Lane with Babcia and shouting ‘Stop Dziadek!’ when we’d wave you down and you’d pick us up on your way back from work. In the latter years, such treasured memories in Wales of our walks on the beach. Thomas still has the pebbles and shells that we collected when we visited you. You so loved to do that with all of your grandchildren and great grandchildren. It isn’t until you have your own children that the value of grandparents becomes even more treasured and I feel lucky to have been so blessed. I have written you a poem and will post it on here after we have said our final farewells on Thursday. I hope you like it. Sleep peacefully in God’s arms. You will be missed but never forgotten. Dobranoc Dziadek. Karolinka, Robert, Thomas i James ❤️❤️❤️❤️ xxxx

At the remarkable age of 98, I feel so privileged that not only did I get to spend a lot of wonderful times with you in my childhood but with your amazing energy and activeness in life, that now my children have got to share them same joys. The walks on the beach will live long in the memory.
Rest in Peace reunited with Babcia.

I was sorry to hear of your passing but will always remember your kindness and care when you stepped into my parents’ shoes for a short while and welcomed me into your family and home at the age of 5. I have very fond memories of seeing and chatting to you at various family events. Say hello to Ciocia and RIP.
