One of the fairest of our great walkers who was my inspiration in my early days. Always a genial character who was good company and a pleasure to be with. We will certainly miss him. R.I.P. RAY.

Ray inspired me and Jackie Lord to be winners in the early seventies in the parks of Hendon London. He called me the low flying aircraft in his training jokes. Thanks for life's great memories Ray, walk tall in your next arena, yours George Nibre

I can't add to any of the fantastic obituaries that have already been published, except to say that Ray was always a great encourager of those of us who were trying to make a way in the great sport of Race Walking. My heartfelt condolences to Ray's family and many friends.
