In loving memory of Bob Downey who sadly passed away on 20th December 2022.

Bob was a much-loved husband of Beryl; Dad to Steve and Alison; Grandad to Kiera, Liam, Oliver and Samuel; and Great Grandad to Sophie and Robert.

We will be saying goodbye to Bob at 3:20pm on Tuesday 31st January 2023 at Southend Crematorium followed by refreshments at The Roslin Hotel, Southend.

As Bob was a lifelong West Ham supporter, if possible, please wear something claret or blue to help us celebrate his life.
We request family flowers only but donations to Parkinson's UK would be greatly appreciated.

John Purser donated £25 in memory of Bob

Often when we visited Uncle Walter and Aunt Elsie Bob would be visiting Beryl. I was about nine - Bob would always tip me half a crown when we left.

We were very sorry to hear of the loss of Bob. Him & Frank spent many a weekend on Boyce Green Golf Course with lots of laughter along the way.
Sending condolences to Beryl and their family

I've known Bob & Beryl since as teenagers we learnt Ballroom dancing at Elsie's in Grays.
We met up again on Canvey Island where Bob and Beryl and Jean and I bought our first houses and have been in contact ever since. We remember the great times we had at the Christmas pantomimes with all the children and adults including Bob taking part. We will miss him.

I only met Bob a couple of times with my awesome PE teacher Mrs Downey (Beryl) who was such an inspiration in my sporting life. I was driving past a bus stop in Leigh in my Jaguar XJ6 when I pulled up and offered Beryl and Bob a lift. As they sat in the back Bob chuckled about how nice it was to be chauffeur driven by one of Beryl’s pupils. Sometimes in life we only meet someone fleetingly but they make a lasting impression Bob did just that. I send Beryl and the family my love and condolences

Whilst I only knew Bob for 12 years, I cherish the memories of times shared, common interests & insights proffered (not least knowing which mussels to discard). Whether golf, West Ham, or just life, always enriching & the joy of that firm handshake! RIP x

We both became reluctant members of this club back in 2008. Hopefully the ongoing research may help to find a cure for future patients.
