A SON'S GRIEF
I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS OKAY
AND HE SAID

A SON'S GRIEF I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS OKAY AND HE SAID "I'M FINE I SWEAR." BUT WHEN I LOOKED INTO HIS EYES, I CLEARLY SAW HIS STRUGGLES THERE. HE QUICKLY LOOKED AWAY, AND TRIED HIS BEST TO SMILE. HE SAID SOFTLY "I'II GET THROUGH THIS, IT'S JUST TAKING ME A WHILE. I KNEW THAT HE WAS HURTING, AND I KNEW HIS PAIN WAS DEEP. BUT HE FELT THE BURDEN WAS HIS, AND HIS ALONE TO KEEP. I REACHED OUT TO HOLD HIM, BUT OUR HANDS ENTWINED. I SAID "I LOVE YOU DAD. SO YOUR BURDENS ARE ALSO MINE."
