In loving memory of Michael John Coombes who sadly passed away on 25th November 2022

Mike was a much loved husband, father, Grandad, brother and uncle. The middle of 3 brothers, Mike married Rose in 1980 and raised 3 children, and later welcomed and doted on 2 grandchildren.

Mike suffered Alzheimer's Disease in later life, and the family would ask for donations in his memory to be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

Mike's funeral will be held on 20 December. Family flowers only please. Dress as you are comfortable.

Mike, my big brother
In his younger days Mike was a great trad jazz fan and enjoyed Friday and Saturday nights at the Dolphin pub in Botley ; the home of Southampton Jazz club. After school at merry oak academy he got an apprenticeship as an motor mechanic with a local garage in west end road called Edgle@jacobs on completion .He was called up in the National Service one of the last people to get the call up before it was ended in the 50s. His national service was spent mostly at Dover camp as a qualified mechanic he was put in the army transport section looking after the lorries etc.
Mike being the only driver in the family would borrow the garage minibus and we all had our first real holiday transport. IT WAS GREAT.
After the army, he then went to work for Hendy Ford in the centre of Southampton by the parks. He spent most of his working life with Hendy Ford and always had a ford car.
Way back when we were really young we were taken out on Saturday evenings in the summer by Mum & Dad for a long walk to The Southampton Arms for a bottle of pop and a bag of crisps and then catch the green bus back home.
GOOD TIMES and MEMORIES big brother
With Love JEFF
