Melvyn was a good friend on amateur radio from our first contacts over 46 years ago on 2m single sideband both when he was operating mobile all over the country and from his home station on 2m , then 70cms and then 23cms. A couple of years ago Melvyn visited my location to operate 3cm portable working into the Wirral , North Wales and over the North of England. He was always friendly and helpful. He will be sadly missed Dave G4IDR

Mel was a good friend, and we shared many happy times together. A sharp wit and a great sense of humour. A good mate to have when faced with a problem. We shall all miss you lots. Harry and Gaynor.

I remember the joy Mel had when he made a 10GHz microwave contact into Denmark using only 200mW. I was always great to catch up with him on the radio. Neil G4DBN
