Leslie Ernest Thorington (7 Nov 1933 - 5 Nov 2022)

So sorry to hear of Les’ passing. It’s been many years since I worked with him at Hodges & Johnson (my first job in 1983!) He was the manager of the repair department in Hamlet Court Road when I joined as a fresh faced 16 year old & he made me feel very welcome & simultaneously lightheartedly ribbed me as the ‘new office boy’ when I joined the team at Rectory Grove. I will always remember him as a funny, generous man with a very dry sense of humour. I liked him a great deal. Rest easy Les. With deepest condolences & genuine respect from your friend & former colleague; ‘The Gopher.’

Its been a pleasure knowing you Les Thorington and living next door to you for so many years at 163 Hadleigh Road.
I will miss you shouting E-l-i-z-a-b-e-t-h in supermarkets or other shops.

I have such fond family memories of “Uncle Les”, our lovely neighbour, when I was living at home with the Rawding family, at 163, Hadleigh Road in the 1970s. We couldn’t have had better neighbours. Love to all the family at this sad time.
