In loving memory of Lesley Carole Smith who sadly passed away on 3rd September 2022
Born in Walsall, West Midlands in 1961.
On a Cornwall holiday in 1978 we plotted to get our parents together & in January 1979 we became sisters.
We shared a bedroom & went clubbing together ToTs was our go to place.
Lesley started her career as a mental health nurse doing her training at Runwell, doing a degree & working her way to becoming a Mental Health Manager, from which she retired & returned a couple of days a week.
Finally retiring completely only a few months ago.
Lesley loved Southend Seafront from the day she moved here and got her wish to live there this year.
We often sat on the beach together & dined at the arches. We loved watching the world go by.
We will miss you…forever in our hearts ♥️

Please join us after her funeral for refreshments at:
Echo Social & Sports Club

Dear Lesley,it was lovely to have known you both as a friend and the best manager I've worked with. Your door was always open for advice, support or just to have a bit of a joke or chat. You made such a positive difference to so many people.
I'm sorry you didn't have longer to enjoy your well-deserved retirement.
I'll miss you.
Rest in peace xx

Thank you for your wonderful friendship over the years. I will never forget your fantastic sense of humour and your kindness, love and support.
Your dedication to your work with older people and dementia care was truly inspiring. You never lost your passion for the work or focus on patient care above all else regardless of what life and the NHS threw at you.
I will always remember your devotion to caring for your lovely mum.
It feels so unfair that you had so little time to enjoy your retirement in your beloved Southend. You will live on in the hearts and minds of all of us whose lives you touched. Rest in peace xxx

Dear Lesley,

It’s been a while since we worked together but I haven’t forgotten your support and friendship. Your hard work, compassion and sense of humour represented what we should all aspire to in working in the NHS. So sad that you didn’t get enough time to enjoy your retirement but your impact on patients and all those who worked with you will live on.

Ronan

I miss our times in the community managers meetings when we would both be doing our best not to laugh - mainly because once you started I couldn't stop. We've lost an amazing nurse and a lovely human. xxx

Dearest Lesley, words cannot express my sadness on hearing the news of your death. You and I often talked about retirement and how we would spend the time.
Sadly we never did mange to meet for that coffee we had planned a few months past. Lesley you have left an enormous legacy in Newham and will be great missed by so many.
May you rest in peace and smile down on us all from time to time.
It was a pleasure to have know you.
Carmel xxxx
