In loving memory of Jonathan Davies who sadly passed away on 21st August 2022.

Jon grew up in Bitterne, Southampton and attended Bitterne CofE Primary School, Merry Oak Secondary School and Itchen College. After leaving college, he joined Barclays Bank in 1979. It was at the Bitterne branch of Barclays that Jon met Michelle, who he married on a sunny day in November 1985. While Jon and Michelle parted in 1996, they always remained good friends. Jon spent some 20 years with Barclays, working at many different branches in the area. When he left the Bank, Jon turned his mind to his next role and joined Hampshire Constabulary in 2001. In doing so, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Bryan, who had retired some 10 years earlier after a long and distinguished career - something that Jon went on to have himself before retiring in March 2018.

Jon loved music - 70s music in particular. His favourite group was Steely Dan, but he also loved Genesis, Supertramp, 10CC, Squeeze, as well as artists like Joni Mitchell, Judie Tzuke, Kate Bush, Billy Joel (who he went to see at the Ageas Bowl in West End, Southampton). He would sometimes go to the Wickham Festival to hear the music he loved and had tickets, with his brother, Mike, to see the ABBA Voyage concert in early September.

Jon also loved travelling. He visited the US a number of times, enjoying activities ranging from white-knuckle rides in theme parks in Florida and playing the slot machines of Las Vegas, to taking in the vistas of Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon. He also went to far-flung locations such as New Zealand and Thailand, but also loved travelling - a little closer to home - through France and Spain on motorbiking holidays with friends and his brother, Nick.

Jon was a friend, and respected colleague, to many and was loved, very much, by his parents, Bryan and Maureen, and his brothers, Nick and Mike.

Jeff thompson wrote

I’m heart broken to learn of Jon’s passing. He was such a joy to know and spend time with. May his passing be remembered for laughter and smiles to all that knew him.
