In loving memory of Laura Cox, who passed away on 20th August 2022 in her twenty first year. Laura was, and will always be, deeply loved by her family and friends. She will be forever missed.

Laura was an amazing, larger than life young woman whose kindness, profound intelligence and uniquely observant sense of humour brightened the lives of so many. Perhaps Laura's defining characteristic was her passion, which was the driving force behind her remarkable displays of bravery and empathy in the face of injustice and suffering, whether this was protesting for minority rights, or debating politics with her dad.

Laura's nature led her to take on one of the great social injustices of our time - social care for the elderly - by beginning work as a care assistant; a role to which she was exceptionally well suited. In time she decided to train to become a nurse, earning a place to study at King's College London. Everyone who met her knows that she would have made an incredible nurse.

Many of those Laura cared for during her time as a care assistant suffered with Alzheimer's disease and helping those with this condition was important to Laura. She was acutely aware of the suffering this disease causes, not just to the person but also the families that love them.

There will be a private service of committal for immediate family only. Rather than flowers, Laura's family request that in Laura's memory donations are made to Alzheimer’s Research UK who work to fund and deliver research to better understand dementia, improve diagnosis and find better treatments and preventions for what is an awful disease.

I knew Laura because she was friends with my son. She always smiled and waved when she saw me. I thought she was an exceptional vibrant funny young person. I have no doubt she would have been an outstanding nurse and the world has been deprived far too soon of her caring nature and beauty inside and out. Rest gently. Karen, Dave and James, there are no words, I am so sorry. Love mama Waine xxxx

Laura, I still can’t believe you are not here anymore and I don’t know if it will ever feel real. I keep expecting to see you walking down the street or posting/sending a silly meme. I am so privileged to have loads of memories and pictures with you (too many to count) but one thing that stands out with all of them is that no matter what was happening in your own life you were always making me and other people laugh. I love you. God rest your soul and look after your mum and dad and big brother and Ninja who love you more than anything.

You were such a close friend of mine, this was such a shock. I wish we had met more, recently, and done all the things we said we were gonna do like our trips to London. I'm glad I got to spend awesome moments with you like my sisters wedding and watching Hamilton together! You'll always be one of my closest friends 💕

I am deeply saddened to hear about Laura. I feel privileged to have shared so much of my childhood with Laura and at College. We spent a lot of our time laughing, being silly and being told off in class for giggling too much! She was a brilliant laugh and a lovely person and I will really miss her. With much love to her family xxx
