In loving memory of Gary Govus who sadly passed away peacefully after a short illness at Southend Hospital on the 6th August 2022. His loving daughter Kirsty was by his side at the time of death.

Gary was born on May 7th, 1947, to Bobbie and Jessie (King) Govus in Rochford, Essex. He was the first of two sons born to the couple and leaves behind his brother, Bobby.

After leaving school Gary joined the family bakers, The Pantry, where he worked all his life up until the age of retirement. It was here that Gary met his first love, Virginia Emmons, who he later went on to marry and they had a son, Shaun and a daughter, Kirsty. Sadly, Virginia passed away whilst Shaun and Kirsty were very young children. This was devastating for the family and meant that Gary had to act as both a mother and father to his children from a very early age up until his recent passing.

Gary was a loving father who cared deeply for his children and will be sorely missed by all. He was a big Manchester United fan, a keen fisherman and also loved to spend time at his caravan with his partner Jill.

Gary is survived by his son, Shaun Govus and his daughter, Kirsty and her husband Steve Breen, along with his partner, Jill Blackman and 12 grandchildren.

Gary's funeral will be taking place on Wednesday 7th September, 12.00 pm at Southend crematorium. Following on from this there will be a celebration of his life with his loved ones at La Petite Petanque, The Bowling Green Pavilion, Cambridge Road, Southend-on-Sea SS1 1EY.

All friends and family are welcome but if we could kindly ask you to confirm your attendance so we can manage numbers.
