In loving memory of Robert Graham Maddaford who sadly passed away on 11th July 2022

Funeral arrangements:
August 23rd, 15:20 -Southend Crematorium

This is a page for my Uncle, Bob ‘dear boy’ Maddaford.

It was lovely to read the tributes and stories about Bob on the shrimperzone website when word spread that he had passed, but thought I would use this so I can reach as many people as possible with details of his funeral and wake as I organise it, incase all his friends and acquaintances are not all hardcore blues that have access to shrimperzone! ….they probably are though!
Any stories of Bob or messages can be left on here too.

Please pass on the details of his funeral to anyone that you feel would be interested, as all will be welcome
It will be very relaxed so no need to dress formally, and Southend United shirts are very welcome if people would like to wear them.

Also if anyone has any good photos of Bob from back in the day, I’d love to see them so please get in touch.

Thanks,
Andrew (Neph)

RIP Bob, an absolute legend taken from us far to early. Worked with Bob as recently as 2017, one of the best team members I’ve ever worked with. A great sense of humour that often had me in stitches.

I had always seen you at home and away games for years but it wasn’t until the infamous away day to Bury and the mid van army tour that I really met you and I still laugh today at your cheeky quotes and shenanigans.
RIP sir and keep the blue flag flying x

I played football for Leigh Ramblers with Bobby.
He played left back and we named him (Spoonboots) as he was incapable of making a 5 yard pass along the ground, everything he delivered was at head high 🤦🏻‍♂️.
He’d entertain the Ramblers Clubhouse with his post match analysis 🧐 of the game he’d played in, Delivered Jonathan Pearce style.
Fond memories RIP Bobby

Known Bob for many years and got some great memories of SUFC awaydays with him. Bury (mid van army) Derby (first away win in League 1) and Aylesbury (apart from the result) spring to mind. Also had long discussions over our similar musical tastes, especially The Who, and in more recent times some enjoyable and entertaining evenings in the Last Post. Whenever he saw me with my brother, he would always announce with great gusto "I don't believe it, a brace of Bunkers!". Bob was truly a one off and a great character who will be sorely missed, and I'm honoured to think of him as a good friend. RIP mate.

Well what can I say about Bob, a very knowledgeable and clever man. So clever I think that he didn’t have to remember any of our names, all the blokes were simply “Dear Boy”. I spent many a long journey to away games listening to his fabulous facts in relation to the club we were playing or any other subject. A true character who will be sadly missed.

Sadly I did not have the pleasure of knowing Bob, although I did see him at many games following our beloved Southend, still it’s always sad to lose a shrimper from this world and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.
UP THE BLUES

RIP Bob x

Very sorry to hear the news of Bobby's passing. Lovely chap and a real local character. I'm a long lapsed shrimpers fan (late 80's early 90's before 'all seats') so knew Bobby from the footie and also from local haunts in Leigh and Southend where I would often as not bump into him which was always welcome and Bobby would always leave me feeling better than I had before. All my very best to his friends and family x
