We are sad to announce the passing of David (Dave) Holt of Benfleet. He died at age 85 on June 25th. Dave passed away after a battle with cancer, something he never complained of, and maintained an active life both sailing and golfing until late last summer.
Dave is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Holt, sons Michael and Steven as well as Grandchildren, Meagan, Harry, Tim and Millie.
Dave was born in Leigh on Sea in 1936, growing up there before moving to Benfleet when he married Ann in 1965. For almost 40 years up until his retirement he worked for Kalamazoo Business Systems as a leading sales professional.
Dave was an avid sailor his whole life, completing three yachts from hull and decks, then cruising and racing them extensively. He was also very active in helping out at Benfleet Yacht Club where he twice served as Commodore as well as many other roles and was a member for over 60years. He also had a strong passion for Golf and spent much time on the course at Boyce Hill in Benfleet being a member for over 50 years, as well as playing many other courses around the World.
A funeral service will be held on Friday July 15th at 11:30am at the Pitsea Crematorium. Flowers from close family members only. Donation to cancer research can be made through this site to support Dave's charity of choice.

In teenage my years I babysat for Dave and Ann which I remember with fondness for Steve and Mike. Dave was a lovely man and a true gentleman. We shall miss him, especially on my birthday which I shared with Dave. Lots of love at this difficult time. Xx

I have fond memories of your dad from us growing up Mike, that funnily enough involve sailing, BYC & a sand bar somewhere off of Leigh on Sea i think it was that we stopped at one time on the boat. Sending love at this tough time for you all.
