I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Jean. She was a lovely generous, very strong and independent lady. She helped we when I took over her role in 2010 as Clerk at Salfords and Sidlow Parish Council. She was so helpful and kind and it must have been so hard for her passing on the reigns to me when she had been doing the job for so long (since 1989). She was ever so gracious and we always remained in touch - it took many years for all the Council post to finally stop arriving at her house and be properly diverted to the new Council office! As the Chairman of the Salfords Parish Council for some 15 years of the time that Jean was the clerk, I totally endorse everything that Claire (her successor) says. Jean was not only kind but reliable and efficient and trustworthy. She made my time as Chairman an enormous pleasure. My wife and I will go to the funeral and hope to see some other old friends there as well.
