In loving memory of Charles Bruce Baynes (Chas/Charlie), dearly loved Husband, Father, Papa, Son, Brother and friend to many, who sadly passed away on 19th May 2022, aged 64 years. A sportsman, gentleman, inspiration to many and true ironman. We are heartbroken to have lost him so soon but so grateful to have had him in our lives for the time we did and console ourselves with the knowledge that he lived his life to the full. We loved and will continue to love him wholeheartedly forever.

Somebody once said that if you know a person well enough, the way he plays rugby is how he is in life. That was certainly true of Charlie - brave, courageous, strong, honest, and most of all, with a sense of humour. Charlie was one of the Best.

Coast 2 Coast in a day, A great weekend!
Lagos regatta. Sadly I’ve lost the photo of Charlie wearing the pink nightdress he emerged from the water wearing after finding it snorkelling in Tonga !! Priceless sight !!
Last time I raced against Chas was in Lagos in 2019, he on Webster and me on my boat. I had told him what a great event it was, and about the free bar. He was there like a shot. Our sailing together goes back to 1972 and he will be sorely missed. RIP Chas
Best captain and crew mate I have ever sailed with. We will all miss you.
