Joyce Marie Springham was born 25th November 1929 in Camberwell. She lived on Old Kent Road, attending Credon Road School until 1940 when she was evacuated at the age of 11 to Worthing. When she returned after the war, she moved to Verney Road in Bermondsey where she grew and held wonderful memories working in the old factories nearby.
She had three loving children; Colin, Gill and Pauline, then in 1963 moved to Chinbrook, where she became a home carer. Joyce’s family gradually grew to having 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly, building lasting memories and enjoying fun times with them all. From the age of 60, she attended a social club on a Tuesday, where she made many friends over a cup of tea and laughter. Joyce was a very special lady, everyone she met loved her bubbly personality, honesty and kind heart.
Sadly, Joyce passed away after a short illness on the 20th May 2022, at the grand age of 92. Though she may be gone, her memory will live on and be cherished forever.
