I went with mum a few years ago to organise dad’s funeral. Seemed logical therefore to go back to Morton’s for mums own funeral.  They are very caring and professional. There is no heavy sell. For example we were offered a brochure of suitable flowers, but I couldn’t see anything appropriate and went elsewhere and this wasn’t a problem at all.  So many people read mums order of service, which we sorted ourselves, but we all missed a typo. Morton’s didn’t, this meant I was able to correct things before the big day.  I do love the little touches of respect toward the deceased. Quiet bows here and there.  They gently organised us (needed as you are in a kind of a dream) and this helped things float along smoothly.  I know some folks like the faff free cremation only experience but mum was a traditionalist and Morton’s totally met her wishes and our needs

Morton’s provided an excellent service, they were compassionate and caring, they did not rush us and they were very clear with the costs. Fiona was extremely helpful and caring and we would recommend Morton’s to anyone who needs this service.

Upon arrival at Morton’s funeral directors, Cottridge branch. Fiona, Lisa, Steve also other staff members were friendly, welcoming & very supportive. Due to having disabilities, they made the whole experience/process, easier on me which I can not thank them enough. They were there every step of way even when things difficult, checking in to see if I am ok even when I wasn’t. They are the best funeral directors I have ever had the privilege of working with & would use them again in future. I believe they deserve an award as well as recognition for all their hard work etc that they do.

About Us

After Albert passed away in 1941, his wife Caroline took up the running of the family business until 1946 when their son Victor returned from service in the RAF. Victor maintained the high standards set by his father and continued to establish the business as one which could be relied upon to provide a level of service second to none. Victor and his wife Ivy had two sons - Grant and Miles - who were both destined to carry on the family tradition.

In 1982, as part of their development plans, Grant and Miles appointed Derek Case to assist them with the future development needs of Mortons. In the same year the Rubery office was opened, followed by this funeral home in Cotteridge 12 years later.

By 2005 Derek Case had become Managing Director with a remit to steer Mortons in a modern and ever-changing world. His daughter, Sarah, had started working in a part-time capacity whilst completing her Law Degree. She joined in a full-time capacity when her studies were completed in 2005, thus starting another ‘family tradition’ albeit outside the original Morton family. Sarah now holds the position of Managing Director and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the company.

Mortons have recently purchased alternative vehicle companies and now own a wide selection of alternative funeral vehicles, Jaguar hearses and limousines, a Rolls Royce Hearse and limousine, a Mini Traveller Hearse, Morris Minor Hearse, an Austin Van hearse, Wheelchair accessible vehicle, split screen VW Hearse and bay window VW Hearse, with even more options available soon.

Mortons continue to make investments in their staff recruitment, training, and uniforms, together with improvements to their facilities and the vehicles they use. They have recently completed a major refurbishment of all offices, and remain focused on buying ethically, and British, wherever possible.

Mortons Funeral Directors in Cotteridge pride themselves on a rigorous in-house training program for staff and promise that your call will always be answered by a member of the team, with a duty Funeral Director available 24 hours a day.

From the initial call to Morton’s to planning and the actual funeral we couldn’t have asked for any more support everyone we dealt with was kind compassionate and professional. Fiona at Cotteridge was always on hand to help or advise before and after the funeral. Wouldn’t choose anyone else to handle such a delicate time.

From the very first phone call, Mortons Funeral Directors have been absolutely outstanding. Every single member of staff showed genuine compassion, care, and kindness during one of the most difficult times of our lives.

We have used other funeral directors before, but none have come close to the level of care, respect, and attention that Mortons provided. Our mum’s passing was a complete shock to us all, and from the moment she was placed in their care, we truly felt she was being looked after with dignity, tenderness, and professionalism.

They took time to listen to us, never rushed us, and made sure every detail was handled exactly as we wanted. We were kept fully informed throughout, which gave us so much reassurance when everything felt overwhelming. The funeral itself was led with such respect and thoughtfulness — it was a beautiful and fitting farewell for our mum.

We know there are many staff working behind the scenes, but throughout the process we were supported by Fiona, and on the day of the burial by Neil. We truly cannot put into words the heartfelt appreciation we have for them both — their kindness, calmness, and compassion made such a difference to us during such a painful time.

What really stood out was how personal their service felt. We were never treated like just another family; we felt supported, understood, and genuinely cared for every step of the way.

We cannot thank Mortons enough for going above and beyond for us. We will always be deeply grateful for the kindness, compassion, and dignity they showed our mum and our family.

We had Fiona help us with the funeral arrangements. Could not have asked for anyone better she made the whole process a lot easier and made me feel at ease. Lovely and polite. Mortons are absolutely brilliant. Thank you for helping us make dads send off everything he would have wanted.

Thank you for your attention to detail, care and utter professionalism. We couldn't fault you and you made the days after mum's passing and the funeral itself a little easier. At a difficult time - that means a lot. Thank you

Very good service right from our initial contact. Morton’s took us through the process explaining with clarity the different options and services available. The day of funeral ran very smoothly, we were very pleased the way it was handled by Morton’s

From the moment we met Fiona in the Cotteridge branch, we were put at ease and given the confidence that’s mom’s funeral service would be exactly what our family wanted. Excellent communication throughout and they worked with us to deliver a fantastic service. The comments from family and friends during and after the service also cemented our view that we gave mom a great send off. Thank you team Moretons ❤️

Mortons funeral directors are the kindest, most professional company you could use for the funeral of a loved one.  In the most difficult of times I was met with kindness and compassion, no question was left unanswered and the arrangements were made quickly.  The actual funeral ran smoothly and to time.  The funeral car drivers and bearers were turned out perfectly and were also the souls of kindness and professionalism.  I would recommend you use this company without hesitation.

Morton’s were so very kind, caring & professional when we sadly lost my mum 2 years ago, and again a few weeks ago with my dear dad. Fiona thought of everything, & their attention to detail is that which you only get from a local family run firm. We would absolutely recommend Morton’s to any family wanting to ensure their loved ones are truly treated with respect & dignity on their journey to their final resting place.

  • 5 Lisa Mullard 2nd Jun 2025

We are incredibly grateful for the care and thoughtfulness shown by Fiona and Steve at Mortons when arranging our Dad’s funeral. From start to finish, everything was handled with genuine compassion, dignity and respect. It brought us great comfort knowing that he was treated with such kindness throughout. The empathy and professionalism shown made a difficult time that bit easier, and we truly appreciate how smoothly and considerately everything was managed. Thank you for your support, it meant a great deal to our whole family.

  • 5 Vicki Fowler 27th May 2025

Morton's dealt with our Dads funeral back during covid, so we knew they would care of our Mom also.

Again they have been very supportive and understanding of all our wishes. From the day they collected Mom right up until the funeral day they were always available, offering advise but never pressuring us.

Even the day of collecting Moms ashes they were amazing, making us feel relaxed and welcome.

Thank you to all the team at Morton's - Fiona for all the admin work and Steven and the team on the day.

    Many thanks
    Vicki, Stephen and family

Incredible service and customer service. Cannot recommend Morton’s more highly. Nothing was too much trouble and made the whole process very easy given the sadness of the event. Fiona & Steven were amazing.
