Wear Valley Crematorium
About Us
Wear Valley Crematorium in County Durham was opened in 2009 to cater to local communities across County Durham, Bishop Auckland and Newton Aycliffe. The modern building is set in 8 acres of grounds and offers a quiet and serene environment for a final farewell for your loved one.The multi-faith chapel is open to all faiths and denominations, and can accommodate large groups. The team at Wear Valley are happy to support families in arranging a funeral which is line with their cultural or religious beliefs. Families can request their choice of funeral music which can be played in the chapel. Funeral services may be held over the weekend for an additional fee.
There is a beautiful Garden of Remembrance featuring a lake at the centre - a quiet space for families to remember the person who died. Please get in touch with the team who can provide more information on memorial options including rose beds and private gardens. Ashes may be scattered or interred within the gardens. Wear Valley will also keep the ashes for free as long as it takes if families need time to decide what to do with it.
There are up to 54 parking spaces available including 2 for the disabled. The crematorium also has disabled access, toilets, a hearing loop and speaker system through the building.
The caring team are at hand to guide families and help them organise a respectful funeral. Call today to make a visit to the crematorium or memorial garden.
