Chelmsford Cemetery and Crematorium
About Us
The Chelmsford Cemetery and Crematorium, also known as the Writtle Road Cemetery, is owned and operated by the local authority. The historic cemetery has been in operation since 1887. The crematorium however, opened more recently and offers two chapels to bid farewell to your loved one.
The two chapels offer an intimate or larger venue for your loved one’s funeral service, with the South Chapel offering 108 seats and the North Chapel seating up to 26 guests. The Wesley music system offers a range of popular pre recorded music, and electric organs are available for your privately arranged organist. For a small additional fee, your loved one’s funeral service can be recorded to share with family and friends who are unable to attend.
There is a Garden of Remembrance and a lawn to scatter your loved one’s ashes, as well as a columbarium.. A floral tribute area allows funeral guests to view the flowers that have been brought to the service.
