In loving memory of Declan English who passed away on 2nd May 2022 after a year-long battle with cancer.

His funeral service will be held at 1.45 pm on Tuesday, 24th May 2022, at Test Valley Crematorium and afterwards at The Old Mill, Lime Kiln Lane, Southampton, SO45 2HE. Family flowers only please but donations may be made to either Cancer Research or Oakhaven Hospice.
If you are planning to attend the funeral and wake, please leave a message for the family to help with numbers for catering.

Declan was the much-loved husband of Christine, father of Darren and George, brother of Paul and friend to many.

Declan was a retired teacher and businessman and a well-respected member of the community. He was proud to have served for 10 years as a Trustee of the Dibden Allotments Fund, helping many local families. He was also a Life President of Fawley RFC, having started the now-thriving Mini-Rugby section some 30 years ago. He will be much missed by all who knew him.

Sadly I'm unable to attend Declan's funeral. My thoughts are with his family & friends at this sad time. He was a great character and always greeted me with an ouburst of 'scouse' banter at our College reunions. The reunions and life in general won't be the same without him.
RIP Declan

We were inseparable there for a time labouring for Norwest-Holst in Penparcau before Uni and playing rugby on opposite sides of the scrum in the early 70's. Our paths never reconnected and my move to NZ didn't help. Our world is the poorer for his passing and I'm sad I'll never get to see that winning smile of his and that twinkle in his eye when he'd say'come on Williams, it's your shout!'. Heartfelt condolences Christine & fam. The giant Totara has fallen and we're all feeling moke moke (sad).

Both Gwyn and I were so sorry to hear the sad news. I first Met Declan in Nairobi Kenya in 1983 and we have many happy memories of our time there with Declan and Christine. We have seen them recently in Aberaeron notably at Jess wedding and sadly at Mark Keyworth's funeral.
So many happy memories..... All our love to Christine and the family.

We were shocked at the sad news of Declan's passing. He graciously accepted to stand in for me during our daughter's wedding even though he was quite sick. Dec was a gentleman per excellence. Our friendship was indeed deep knew no geographical boundaries.
Christine, please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Known Declan for almost a lifetime. He was a great friend and during our journeys back to Cardiff from Aberaeron and Lampeter we laughed, sang and laughed some more. To me and Uni friends he and we were all named the silly baked beans. That made us laugh some more. Then we discovered Dec was friends with Frank. We were blessed to have him as a friend..to you and family his passing will be devastating..you are in our prayers. RIP Declan xx

Dear Auntie Chris, Darren and George, We continue to think of you daily. It is still unbelievable that Uncle Dec is not with us. I have so many warm memories. He packed a lot of kindness in the time I knew him. I am so grateful to have known him and you all.
