The first time I saw Kevin Higgins was when my sister Pat brought him to a restaurant for a family meal. He walked in tall, handsome, full head of white hair (though he was still only young then) and we dubbed him "Man in a Suitcase" after the actor who played the lead role in a TV series of the same name. I don't think he ever realised how good-looking he was and that only added to his charm. I think we eventually told him his nick-name and he quietly took the compliment. They certainly were a handsome couple but more importantly, it was obvious how much in love they were. That love endured across the years, through difficulties and triumphs and will stand Pat in good stead in the future.

Uncle Kevin - you were a generous and loving man. You never complained about anything and remained a hard grafter to the end. You'll be missed every day.

Gracey and Aunty Pat, be strong, keep talking and look after each other. Then remember we are all here to catch you when you need us to. Love you both so much xx

Aunty Pat and cousin Grace, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Uncle Kevin, I'm so glad I got to meet you and hear the interesting stories you had to tell. I remember making you a cup of tea when you first came to Australia and Grace had to take over from me because you were such a connoisseur of your tea! :) I'm also grateful for the time you and Aunty Pat and Grace took me to visit Pat and Les in Naracoorte. You were a lovely kind person and I am thankful for the times I got to spend in your company.

You will be sadly missed Uncle Kevin

Love Amy and Michael (Nip) xoxo

Kevin, a great guy for telling a story or experience (in full) and with a good injection of humour. We have shared many laughs together over the years and that is how I will remember our times together.

Sleep in peace brother-in-law. Saddened that we never got to say a proper goodbye Kev even though we both were aware of your likely journey 's end. God bless lad and I'll say a prayer that over there in spirit there really is no more pain mate.
