In loving memory of Lesley Valentine who sadly passed away on 12th August 2015.

***
Lesley had expressed a wish that those attending her funeral did not wear black clothing (no black ties). She would have liked people to wear something with a bit of colour in it.

Lesley was “all things to all men”

As my wife, she was loving, loyal and forgiving. She was my best friend, my counsel and my conscience. She made me laugh and there were times when I made her cry.

We were opposites but we complimented each other perfectly. She was my soulmate. We loved each other uniquely.

She was elegantly, stylish and a very sassy lady; yet she had a schoolgirl sense of humour.

Lesley was someone you were proud to know; for who she was and for what she had achieved. Her legacy is all around us, the people whose lives she touched and effected live on. Her counsel was sought after and her opinion was valued. Her friendship was cherished and returned

She had high standards in all she did, particularly in her professional life.

Lesley could be quiet and private yet outlandish.

She could be as fearsome as a lioness over her cubs and she was critical of herself, particularly as a parent but was so looking forward to being a grandmother; to use own words, “This time round, I’ll get it right and enjoy it.” One of the things this cruel disease, that took her life, robbed her of.

To everyone here she was loved, to one degree or another.

I have no words to describe the loss and emptiness.

We will all miss her

……… but remember these words she spoke, “Don’t cry because it’s over… smile because it happened.”

I knew Lesley over many years, starting from taking our young children to activities or to nursery. I reconnected with her as a volunteer at the Contact centre. She was a kind, warm-hearted, intelligent woman whom I am delighted to have known. My condolences to all the family.

On behalf of all at Thomas Adewumi International College in Nigeria we send to Steve and his family our thoughts and condolences at this time.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Lesley but I always felt that I knew her as Steve shared stories over a beer after our Principal's meetings and always with a glint in his eye as he spoke about her. She was never far away from his thoughts.
That she will be greatly missed is certain. She is now at Peace.
With our love and prayers.
