Matthew with my late husband Steve – taken August 2018th at Lord’s I believe. The one day there was no cricket played. Matthew was always such good company, such fun and so generous. I Will miss his wit, wisdom and Sheer zest for life.

So many happy memories of good times shared, in London, Leeds, Derbyshire, Spain, Todmorden and more. I always enjoyed your company Matthew. You did what you loved and loved what you did and your enthusiasm, wisdom, SOH and love of life shone through and brightened the lives of people like me too. I'll always remember you. A lovely, wonderfully eccentric and fun person. Two memories of Matthew stick out: lying on a tractor under the stars putting the world to rights; and getting a lift back from the pub whilst he scrambled around the glove compartment in order to give me some, “ no ordinary Rioja” samples!
RIP Matthew. Every rare encounter was always a pleasure.
