John Cook (Cookie) of Bridgwater sadly passed away 9th April 2021 aged 66. Loving Husband, Dad, Grandad and friend. A private family service will take place on Friday 30th April. If you wish to pay your respects, we will be passing Taunton Road at 10:30am. Please adhere to social distancing.
John was a great friend in sp Coy 41 Cdo if there was a party or meeting he would be there he was one of the top blokes to get invited to mortar troops piss ups I’m sorry I may not be there tomorrow as I have started my 3rd chemo and normally I’m a bit rough the next few days but depending on how I feel if I wlll be there or not Shaky ken

Farewell old friend you and your sense of humour will be sadly missed by your immediate family and the members of the Royal Marine family who had the good fortune to know you.

The pandemic restrictions sadly mean that I, and many others, will be unable to attend Cookie’s farewell. I am sure that there would have been a full house of his many friends from the Royal Marines. We lost touch with Cookie after Deal, so it was great to get back in touch via Facebook and to know he had a wonderfully happy life with Jackie and their family.
When we speak of our time in the Corps, Cookie features in many a story, especially when on tour in NI. They were good days.
