Our darling, brave, beautiful Amanda left us on 22 April. She had been trying for so long to overcome the health issues which had affected her in recent years. In the end, the journey was too difficult, the destination remaining just out of reach.
We were so close to getting her home, actively planning for how everything would work when she got here. An infection took hold and in her weakened condition after many months in a hospital setting, she just didn't have the strength to win yet another battle.
Throughout her stay in hospital she was kept going and comforted hugely by the hundreds of messages, cards and phone calls of support that she received. She was aware of them all and, although often unable to respond, she appreciated each and every one of them so very much. She felt your love with her all of the way.
She left us so very peacefully last week and in her final hours had the company of her children Aaron and Ethan, and sister Karen.
We intend to hold a proper memorial for Amanda in the summer where we can celebrate her life in a less formal and much more inclusive way.

This is tragic and awful news. I worked with Amanda for several years and she stood out for being a lovely person who looked out for others.

My wee candle for Amanda
To Karen, Sam, Aaron and Ethan...I'll never forget Amanda's quiet but titanium personality, her endurance and her laugh. I heard her speak with natural love and pride of her family in the office often, and of course her passion with dogs and music. She's got your love and you've got her song. So sorry for your heartbreak. Thank you for sharing the beautiful memorial with us all, it was so brave and perfect. Faye x

I am so so sorry for how hard all this is for you and your family, Amanda was such a warm, kind-hearted and beautiful colleague, I feel lucky to have known her over the years. She always talked about her family, especially the boys as well as her passion for dogs, she was one of the few people that would request to see photos of my dog :) I will forever remember her as the brave and kind person she was.
