Gerald, from the moment I met you at Aston Fields all those years ago I knew that we would work together without any problems. Your methods of Training people, whether they were apprentices or adult trainees was a joy to behold. I still remember the day you decided to demonstrate what would happen if you put a cold ladle into a pot of hot molten metal, the resultant look on the faces of the apprentices as the pot emptied, throwing molten metal everywhere. Though unorthodox it worked, not one apprentice made that mistake.
I will miss coming over to see you and going out for breakfast, then arguing over who was going pay, you, me or Paul Bennett.
May you rest in peace old friend.

I have lots of fond memories of going out and about with Uncle Gerald, for example being car sick, having to wear his jumper because I had nothing else to wear, teaching me to swim at Lichfield Swimming Baths and he gave me away at my wedding 35 years ago this August. I was suffering with tonsillitis that day and had to hold his hand tightly as I was worried I would fall. He will be greatly missed by many people. Rest in peace Uncle Gerald.
