Wow, where do I start. Any reference to my Uncle David would not be complete without the inclusion of my Aunty Jenny. David and Jenny epitomised the true meaning of Aunty and Uncle, from my earliest recollection. I have so many recollections that I could share with my sister Karen, but David had a massive impact on my life and myself as a person. So many memories, but please allow me to capture the bullet points:-
Adventure,
Unexpected
Educational
Fun Packed
Hilarious
Total madness

Uncle David introduced me to the following:-
Whelks,
Prawns,
Being upside down in a pond
Salad fights
Eating Marmite correctly
How to do a English Breakfast justice
How to collect water on a camp site
How to empty a “funny” on a camp site
How to Fish of Rocks
Finding rationed food in cans on a war ground
How to steal from the Army
Having a hand grenade as a gift
Living in total ore and pride of the sight of him in his full uniform,
Taking me and my sister on some wonderful holidays with such generosity.

My Uncle David was just brilliant, and along with my Aunty Jenny, we were blessed.

Thank you. Xxxxx

Such wonderful childhood memories, from being on the broads in Uncle David’s boat (especially when Nanny and Grandad fell in) long walks with Meg and a stick, family feasts with buffets of exciting food I would try for the first time, water fights, bowls on the lawn, cards and board games- all played competitively but with so many laughs. Always took the time to ask what my travel plans were and life goals. I will miss our chats

Cousin David
You were my Best Man. The cousin I looked up to. From the East End of London to Suffolk. Your accent changed to country. I first heard you scream when your Mum Ivy told that ghost story so well. We all screamed. Nan Ward told Ivy off and cuddled us all. That was a Christmas and so was Ashbyrton Devon. Your Wedding to the beautiful Jenny. Your National Service in the RAF and your joining the RAEC at Beaconsfield. Then off to Aden (Yemen), Belize and Germany. Then your work with HMP. Finally retirement to the Country Bungalow near Bury. Our evening chats once a month. Your visits to my Vineyard in Duras. My visits to you. Bless you and now hold Jenny’s and Matt’s hand.
Cousin Stuart

A lifetime of happy memories with Uncle David. The best kind of Uncle a child could have. We always enjoyed our time with him, there was always an anticipation of adventure in his company. He shared the opportunities to swim, spend time on boats, caravanning, canoeing, horse riding and very long walks! Many happy holidays together exploring and playing games. This continued as adults, great family ‘get togethers’, fancy dress, water fights, card games all with a generous helping of alcohol . The next generation benefitted from the same generosity and fun, he always showed great interest in all that they were doing. We will miss him, a unique David shaped hole in our lives. When we gather together again in the future we will keep the fun going and think of Uncle David. X (hope the spelling is correct throughout, he would have noticed and let me know, 😂)

My Pops, what a character! Impossible to sum you up in a few words. You really did live life to the full. We were two peas in a pod, I was just blessed with more hair. Miss you, sleep well Papa. X
