On 21st February, peacefully, after a long illness, at Airedale Hospital. Avril aged 75 years of Oxenhope. Loving wife of the late Peter, dear mother of Jonathan and James and brother of Haydn. A private funeral service will be held at St Mary's Church, Oxenhope on Tuesday 9th March.

I am sorry to learn that Avril has died. When I was Moderator at Hawksbridge Baptist Church Avril was the organist and made a vital contribution to our worship. She had courageously taken over from Alice Heaton despite being nervous about playing the organ. When I’d retired I worked alongside Avril at Oxenhope Methodist Church Day Care Centre when I recorded the memories of the members of the group. Whenever I met Avril I received a warm welcome and I feel privileged to have met her. Unfortunately under present conditions I will be unable to attend her funeral but I trust that there will be those who will support you at this sad time. Brian Carpenter.
