Albert a real pleasure to have known and umpired with you. A real giant of the Kent Hockey Umpiring Association (KHUA), was there at the start of KHUA in the 1960's. Held the positions of Secretary, Treasurer and President. As an umpire reached the top of Kent and went on to be a South Regional umpire, so supportive always willing to help. A real hockey man, who will be missed but always remembered.
Rest in peace

My mother Joyce always had fond memories of her cousin John from the times he came to Sheffield to stay with his Aunt Nelly and Uncle Bernard, and they used to play together. He visited us several times in Sheffield over the decades and he always thought so highly of his family. I remember him as a wonderful person and have fond memories from when I stayed with him in 1980s to do some apple picking as a teenager. When I wasn't working he took me to visit all sorts of interesting places, telling me about their history, an experience that made an impression on me then and has stayed with me ever since.

I have always looked up to John and we exchanged letters every Christmas, where occasionally he would send me photographs and snippets of family history. I shall miss him.

You will neve be gone as long as we have treasured memories of you and your visits, we were going to do the bird count for you in January but the weather was so bad we did not have any birds in the garden during the time we tried to see them, I think they were all with you. We will miss you so much and miss the visits we had together. Sleep well and lots of love Brian & Patricia X X

We first met Albert (via a common interest) in 2007 on a weekend trip away with a group of new found friends. From the other side of the world this friendship endured, many thanks to yourself, Brian and Pat! Our "Old Bill" family now feels so much smaller. Albert, your beautiful correspondence is deeply missed. It was always such a delight to read your letters, never without a little gift inside. We will miss speaking to you on your birthday, but we won't forget it either.
There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even after they're gone.
We will watch the birds in the garden and think of you.

I am extremely proud to be able to call you these names, you trusted me with one of your greatest achievements, Carole Ann, your daughter and Ashleigh your granddaughter. And finally you trusted me with you, I don’t know if you knew just how proud that made me. You were and will alway remain a true gentleman and I will sorely miss you. Rest in piece
