Peacefully at home on 1st February 2021, aged 91 years, devoted and beloved husband for 64 years of Jean,

much loved father of Marie, Robert, Jane and Ashley, grandfather of Lucy, Alexandra, Emily, Hannah, Jack,

Camilla and Saskia, great grandfather of Jaime, Poppy, Arthur, Bella and Ruby. Father-in-law of Charlie, Tina

and Nick. Adored son of the late Cyril and Iris (nee Murtough) Filmer of Bengal, India and brother to the late

Hubert and Basil. Predeceased by his loving parents-in-law Glyndwr and Eveline Roberts of Garden Village,

Gorseinon, Wales. Dearest brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, great uncle, Godfather and friend. Born in Calcutta,

educated at La Martiniere College, Lucknow, trained at Mhow Army War College, served with the Royal Corps

of Signals India, Gold Coast and Britain. He subsequently worked at the War Office in Whitehall, then joined GCHQ, finally

moving to Cheltenham where he worked on W Watch with postings to Singapore and Hong Kong. Private family funeral

service (due to current restrictions) to take place at the Roman Catholic Church of St Gregory the Great followed by burial at Cheltenham Cemetery.

A celebration of his life will be held later. Family flowers only but memorial donations would be appreciated for Sue Ryder Hospice, whose nurses lovingly cared for
