‘God saw you getting tired and that a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms around you and whispered ‘come with me’.
A golden heart stopped beating hard, working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.’

The measure of a man is not his riches such as money or material wealth. The true measure of a man is the actions he takes, the goodness he does and how big his heart is when it comes to loving and caring for others. Albert Liard was a giant, not in a physical sense, but in the measure of being an honest and great person. His deeds, along with his wife Iona, brought happiness to recipients with laughter, stories galore and compassion.

One of the wonderful lunches with The late Nancy Daglish. They nurtured her with love and friendship right to her very end. We treasure your friendship. Rest In Peace Albert, all our love, Raymond Daglish, Nancy and George Czerny.

Albert Liard was not a national news headliner, but he should have been in the most positive of ways. Even before turbulent times of a covid pandemic afflicted our world, he was the finest epitome for all that is important and good and fair in our world. Rotary clubs around the world follow a motto of “Service above self”. Albert Liard lived that motto, partnered with his beloved wife, Iona, and they brought love and caring to people between Britain and Burma. Albert’s infectious enthusiasm and laughter always announced his arrival, coupled with handshakes, or hugs, or both. We met Iona and Albert through my wife Nancy’s parents, the late Nancy (Sao Sein Nyunt) and Julian Daglish. Albert and Iona became wonderful friends to Julian and Nancy in Wimbledon Park and to us when we visited from Canada. We recognized very quickly what an important contribution to our world and to life the team of Iona and Albert made, if not daily, then almost daily. Now, one half of that team has left us to make Heaven a better place. We salute Albert with prayer and shall keep in touch with Iona.
