Phil gave me two days of work back in the day which turned out to be over twenty five years. We became friends as well as work mates and I have lots of great memories.
I never went on a photo shoot with Phil but if I ever had a photographic or Photoshop problem he was my go-to man. Rest in peace Phil.

Phil will be remembered as a valued and enthusiastic member of the Exeter Camera Club but also by many, as a friend. He was one of the first people at the Club to take time to talk to me when I joined and he soon became a firm friend. I particularly appreciated his sense of humour and his comments, which were freely given! His presentations to the Club were always full of surprises and humour and we'll all miss them. So sorry to lose you Phil. Condolences to Pauline and his family from me and on behalf of the Club.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Phil, such a character he always greeted me on a Thursday evening at camera club. I enjoyed a chat and his sense of humour! The Yorkshire camera club trip was a time I got to know more about Phil and his photography. Yes, he was a very good photographer who enjoyed his photography plus courses and workshops. He will be missed yet remembered by many in Exeter Camera Club.

The first time we met, Phil and I immediately struck up a friendship which lasted until his passing. He was one of the "Boys" and he very much enjoyed our days out and our so called Photographic holidays both home and abroad. Food, wine and laughter seemed to be the norm and if time allowed we would take few snaps as a record of the day. He was a very special friend and I'm grateful that I was part of his life.

Like others in Exeter Camera Club I have only known Phil for a few years. But in that short time we became good friends and spent some wonderful times together. Although at times we looked like the rejects from the cast of the Last of The Summer Wine, I have had the pleasure of being with Phil and others on trips to local locations, Wales, Northumberland and Cyprus and there was never a dull moment. It was supposed to be for photography but sometimes that took a back seat to just having a pint and some great fun.
RIP Phil it was great to know you, I’m so sorry for your sad loss Pauline.

Pete

It has been a priviledge to be your friend , through happy and some testing times
Your sense of humour was perfect, you have always been a real star ...never a dull moment
We have laughted so much together, Over silly things, whole evenings of giggling nonsence

Thankyou for being a very special part of our lives

Fond memories of our trip to the Lakes and Dales, When Phil sent us this photo, he said could we go back and do it again when he was sober! His dry sense of humour will be sadly missed by us all at the Camera Club. There was only one Phil.

A few words quietly spoken leaving a deep impact. I was always excited when Phil presented at the camera club, as may have mentioned he would have us all in stitches with his dry sense of humour. I loved being with and speaking to Phil, he enriched my life and I shall miss him ever so much. R.I.P.
Pauline I am so sorry for your loss.
