In loving memory of John Victor Howell who passed away peacefully on 18th November 2020 aged 75 years.

One of a kind, a true character, who will be remembered for his gentle and caring nature, for always going out of his way for people, and for his contributions to many, but more recently, The Waterside Drama Club, Tools for Self Reliance, and Ocean Harmony.

Much loved Husband to Helen, Fantastic Dad to Gareth and Amanda, and treasured Grandad to Dillon, Rosie, Haydn, and Eva ❤️ He will be very sadly missed.

We welcome any photos, memories, and/or stories you can share with us.

Due to Covid restrictions, the funeral and gathering we would have normally had for John is not possible. Please find below the details of the Funeral webcast. We do hope you can join us.

John was such fun; always a smile. We always had an amusing chat at work (Esso), when on and off stage at The Waterside Theatre, and latterly at Ocean Harmony. We all loved his tech wizardry and I particularly remember the large bangs and flashes on stage which made everyone jump !

I will remember John's ready smile and his interesting chats, with his stories about our past work at CEGB. He was always willing to get involved with all our (Ocean Harmony) projects. When he said he would do something, he did it. John will be missed by me and many others.

21 years ago we moved next door to John and Helen, during that whole time John has been our friend, neighbour, engineer, innovator, firework supplier, builder, and all round good egg... there was no problem that John wouldn’t solve, and no task that John wouldn’t join in with to help. Knowing John made life fun and life easier... you are and will be forever missed and always remembered. Rest in peace. With love Anne and Richard x

A lovely man - kind and always helpful, a real gentleman.
Happy memories of working with John for many years - and of being onstage and backstage with Esso Music & Drama/Waterside Theatre Company and, more recently, singing with Ocean Harmony. Always enthusiastic and so inventive - a joy to be with.

A wonderfully enthusiastic member of Ocean Harmony who always had a smile.
And we loved John’s ingenious constructions – who else would make a working Victorian lamppost from drainpipe, flower pots and other assorted bits and pieces?

We’ll miss singing with you John.

“John was such a fun guy - on and off the risers”
“ A lovely member of OH and will be missed”
“We were both instrument Engineers working for the same company back in the seventies. One of life's gentlemen.”
“We’ll miss his lively presence in the chorus - and his whistling!”
“A very enthusiastic member of the Lead section. His smiling face and persona will be sorely missed."
