I'm so shocked and saddened. Mrs Venning was such a loving and caring person, and I'll always remember fondly all the sewing lessons at St Modwen's. Jamie and Laura are in my and my family's thoughts.

Dear Jamie and Laura
Your mum, Mary, was a lovely lady. She worked tremendously hard for all the pupils and staff at St Mods for many years. In my time as colleague and headteacher I felt privileged to witness her conscientious and caring approach, often going above and beyond to do many voluntary things for the children. She was a central part of what made the school such a special community. I will always remember her with great fondness and respect. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless

I have so many happy memories working with Mary for many years, she will be sadly missed. My 3 boys were very fond of her, especially Seth who spent many hours with Mary at breakfast club. A lovely lady who knew how to party! God bless you Mary xx

  • God bless you Mary. RIP. I always remember you requesting me to make Laura’s communion dress as I’d always wanted to make one at that point only having boys. Love and prayers to Laura and James and all the family through this difficult time. Gabrielle Kelly

I am going to miss you so much Mary! You were like a second mum to me at school - always there for me whenever I needed something which was usually a moan about something or a shoulder to cry on. I will miss your laugh, your crazy Christmas hats, your beautiful hand made cards and everything about YOU. You were St Modwen's beating heart ❤ The dinner hall, classrooms, concourse and playgrounds will never ever be the same without you! You will forever be in my heart and thoughts. Heaven has gained the most amazing angel ❤

The term ‘legend’ is thrown around too often, but never has it been more appropriate to describe Mrs V! Kind, funny, creative - you will truly be missed.
