If you're here you will likely know that Dave was a man who, for the remaining 3 members of family Wheeler, will never be replaced. He was a man with a big heart, wonderful sense of humour, compassion and endless love for his family and friends. Dave has been my best friend for over 20 years and for the past 17 I have had the privilege to stand by his side building the wonderful life that we had, creating our home and raising the amazing small people that you know as Eloise and Conor - without a doubt Dave's favourite 2 people in the world!

I would be so pleased for you to share your memories and any photographs you may have of him, this will be a wonderful keepsake for us and hopefully will allow those of you who are unable to attend the service to feel in some way more connected.

I would like to thank you for all the outpouring of love and support we have received and hope that you approve of the way in which we wish to honour Dave's memory by making a donation in his name to two clubs that were so special to him and where he spent many happy hours encouraging our kids to be the best they can be at their chosen sport but also helping them see the value of friendship and being kind to those around you.

Details for donations are to Halifax Account K J Wheeler sort code 11-15-26 account number 00230082

Thanks again for visiting and sharing your memories
Karen

We first got to know Dave at the school gates..like many others. Always there with a cheeky smile on his face.
Always joining in with any morning school run conversations completely unfazed by us women.
We could never be in the company of Dave without lots of laughter involved.
We shared our love of take that and have seen them in concert together over the last 10 years. Always dancing and living life to the full. Concerts definitely won’t be the same without you Dave! We thankfully got to see them at st Mary’s last year. A great memory.
We have shared so many other fab memories over the last 10 years..from nights out/in..to holidays..concerts.. too many to list. But we are so grateful to have these memories to look back on.
Taken far to soon. Thank you for all of the laughter.
Lots of love to Karen,Eloise and Conor. Xx

"Disco Dave" #Legend, I feel incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to call you as a friend and share so many fun memories with you. You’re one of those rare characters who make a massive ever lasting impression, on so many differing levels.
I always looked forward to a beer and conversation with you, ranging from your love of history, your passion for construction and your wonderous gift for saying totally inappropriate things!
I have nothing but admiration for you, a grafter, devoted dad and fabulous partner to Karen.
Life will not be the same without you my friend, but rest assured we will be there for Karen, Connor and Eloise.
Even though we can no longer see you, you will always live on in our hearts and minds.
What I wouldn’t give for one more beer and chat with you my friend.
Until we meet again, Rest in peace, Love the Cooper Gang xxx

The main thing I remember when I think Of Dave is laughter, always made us smile and laugh, even if it was just listening to the banter between him and Karen!

I knew Dave at Eastleigh College & although we did not share a staff room I did know Dave (Wheelie) as a fun-loving, always happy guy & remember the odd times when we would all sit together having coffee & cake in the staff common room - oh the good old days.
I also got to know Dave better when he, Dave Jones (sadly no longer with us) & Terry Monkton did the brickwork on our extension in Romsey.
Unbelievably, it is still standing!!!! We no longer live there (says more about the brickwork !!) ..... I know he would have appreciated the ribbing.
My heartfelt condolences to you Karen, Eloise & Conor. xxx

He only takes the best, we know that is true, so to all of us that knew you that is why he choose you. Taken far to young, leaving broken hearts behind, a Daddy now in heaven watching your family with pride. You will never be forgotten, go sleep with the angels and may you rest in peace. All my love Mel and family xx

Often in the midst of some craziness would you find Dave. He would talk to anyone about anything and fill our lives with stories of all those years ago (which we could never remember due to our relative youthfulness). One to throw himself into life and his family; being the Dad that wouldn’t just be found watching from the sidelines.
Also dedicated to helping those around him- from the odd bit of DIY to coaching the cricket club or helping out at school.
Never was Dave one to turn down anything, he lived his life to the full and left beautiful and often hilarious memories for those around him (thanks Stephan for the chilli vodka shot memory below....)
A true big hearted and lovely guy who will be greatly missed.

Dave, "Wheelie" as he was affectionately known by his fellow colleagues in Eastleigh College, staff room H (or cell block H!). Dave brought laughter, practical jokes and zany happiness to us all. He was a great colleague and friend.
His colleagues will get together, and tell the stories, laugh and shed tears so his memory will live on.
His playfulness was only matched by his bravery in the way he handled his final month's, no self pity and stoic to the end.
To Karen, Eloise, and Conor, my deepest sympathy but I know you will be strong, as the great man himself was.
Liam

We got to know Dave very well after he completed extensive works on our house and as a result we became friends. Dave took the stress out of having construction done because we would chat for ages over many a coffee, putting the world to rights and having a laugh. Dave would comment on how society underestimated the skills he and others in this profession possessed, but unlike those sat behind a desk on a PC, he literally had the ability to change people's lives for the better, by making that all important home a better place to live & grow. I never did get a quote for any of the work though ;-) But you knew you could rely on him to do a perfect job!
As we sit typing this message now & reflecting on the spaces Dave created, he will be sadly missed by us both. An all round honest, decent friend, husband & father. Best wishes & our thoughts are with Karen, Conor & Eloise.

It was a pleasure and a honour to have known and considered a friend to such a genuine, nice and funny man. He gave his time and passion into coaching the kids cricket team and teaching the dad’s how to score. Disco Dave was a legend on the Dance floor and the entertainment of the party. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Our love to the wonderful family he leaves behind.
God bless you Dave and rest in peace. XXX.

We are all going to miss a true star. Dave was such good company and whenever you spent time with him you always came away a happier person. Dave had a great knack of making you laugh, a definite glass half full. I am personally going to miss my chats at the boys Football. Many a story was told and lots of laughter was had. Dave had a great sense of humour, often childlike which was always hilarious. It was a pleasure to talk sport whether it was football or cricket. I especially enjoyed reminding him that Saints were secretly a Liverpool academy team. Most recently time spent down at the Locks Heath cricket. He was great with the children he coached, and I know he took great pleasure in seeing their enjoyment. ‘Disco Dave’ was one of the most genuine people we have ever met, and we were privileged to call him our friend. He would always offer his help and do anything for anyone. Our boys often went round after school, which we were very grateful for. His special ‘punch’ will always be remembered!!
We will all miss a genuine gentleman

Thanks Dave for the great laughs at Eastleigh college and helping me through the Cert Ed in 1986/7, really great days , it would have been so very different without your humour and pranks! I can also say you were an excellent craftsman and teacher, the students gained so much from your dedication and sometimes unorthodox approach!! A true legend. Great memories of a great bloke, thanks hugely, Alan

Although we didn’t know Dave very well, whenever we did meet up he was such a happy, warm and kind man. The attached photo from the last time we met makes me smile, his face covered in stickers having fun with Eloise and Conor. Reading through all the memories and photos just shows how much he touched other people’s lives with fun, laughs, love and friendship. He will be missed so very much but the memories will live on. Karen, Eloise and Conor sending you much love xxx
