As so many have said Janet was a very special lady who will be missed by so many but never forgotten. Her smile that lit up a room, her infectious laugh and her wonderful nature. She always had time for people and gave wise advice. She was a wonderful sister-in-law and aunt and a treasured member of our family. We have so many happy memories. Rest easy now Janet - you will never be forgotten. With love Delia, Stephen, Martyn, and Emma

Dear Janet,

I couldn't have asked for a more caring stepmother. I remember coming home nearly 30 years ago to find you helping dad to decorate the lounge at Daws Heath Road. Since then there have been so many happy memories.

The excitement of moving into a brand new house together. So many amazing home cooked meals with veggies from the allotment, and stories told around the dinner table. Socks at the bottom of our beds on Xmas Day filled with tangerines and essential items! Taking Toffee for walks along the river and watching him turn endlessly in his bean bag in the lounge before settling down with a sigh. You were a comfort to me when I was sick or sad and offered great advice and infectious laughter, usually at the breakfast table in the kitchen over a cup of tea.

I am so glad you met Kenny. We had such a lovely time with you and dad in the UK and France, memories we will keep forever. I am so sorry you won't be at our wedding, but I know you will be there in spirit...dancing in the sand with us.

It is difficult for all this to sink in... another very special lady taken from us far too early.

Janet you will be sadly missed and never forgotten.

Love Louise xxx

The Macmillan nurses can never be thanked enough for the special work they do. Cancer has touched our family in so many ways, as it has so many others. Knowing there are amazing people out there that care makes it easier to cope... thank you for caring.

Words can never express how much Janet meant to everyone who knew her and how she enriched our lives. Good wife, good mother and grandmother and such a good friend.

So many coffees around the kitchen table, laughing, talking netball, putting the world to rights. Nights in and nights out, travelling miles for that one extra netball match, watching England at Wembley and the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Our Golden Girls are now down to three but 'Rose' will always be with us. For our GG adventures we all wore silly T-Shirts. Rose's will now read Golden Girls World Tour - Prague, Edinburgh, Heaven.

Rose you will be missed so much.
Love Sophia (Shirley) xxxx

Janet, myself and Jess miss you very much, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you and at how sad it is you are no longer with us, spreading your lovely personality and making everyone feel part of a huge lovely family. Horticultural was like a big party with all the fabulous cakes and treats you made, and we always had a laugh. We both are very sorry that it was time for you to go, but hope your allotment in heaven is producing the biggest bumper crops ever. We DO miss you, and your infectious smile. God bless.

Dear Janet was such a bubbly, warm, funny and wonderful lady. She always tried to make people smile, and we all know that later in her life she must have found that terribly hard with what she was going through herself. I shall always admire her tremendous bravery towards the end, and whenever I think of her extremely warm smile I have a tear of sadness that she has unfairly been taken from us. I hope you are in your biggest, brightest and most perfumiferous garden laughing and giggling for ever, Janet. God love you. Miss you lots.

Janet was more than a colleague on Committee's that we all enjoyed. Janet was a true friend who shared our interests in Horticulture, Flower arranging and local leisure activities.
She gave her time so willingly and her friendship so freely.
Janet will be sadly missed by us both.

I didn't have the privilage of knowing Janet for that long really, but she made me feel very welcome, and was a lovely lady to talk to, even when you knew she was uncomfortable and in pain. I will think of Janet every time I look at my garden. My condolences to you and your family Ray.

To so many, Janet was an amazing friend, mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunty, nanna, great nanna, sporting team member & baker extraordinaire. But, to me, she was the most incredible Mother-in-Law I could have ever, ever hoped for. Meeting your partner’s family can be a daunting task but to be on the other side of the world from the life and family you know, makes it more so.
From my first arrival to The Spinnaker, Janet opened their wonderful home, her boundless love, her sense of fun, her wisdom, a few bottles of red & her amazing cookbooks!! The joy of those times, the fabulous meals together, the amusing party games, the long garden chats and the infectious laugh of ‘My English Mum’ will stay with me forever.
May you now rest in peace Janet Harding, you touched so many in your too short a life xx

Our Golden Rose

The four ladies who made up the "golden girls" did have many adventures, so very precious as Lyndsey has mentioned. We also used to convine at "the pines" every June/July to plan our next journey. Janet would bring home made scones and we would have afternoon tea together...this we will continue to do. Netball, gardening and the love of being together shall live forever in my memory. Thank you Janet an amazing lady and very dear friend. Xxxxx
