In loving memory of Shirley Margaret Miller who sadly passed away peacefully in her sleep on 12th August 2020.
Shirley was born 18th May 1935 in Tooting . She married Geoff on 18th August 1956 and they had three children Barry, Jean and Tracy.
Shirley attended Nonsuch school where she gained O levels and A levels . Her first job was employed by Sainsbury’s laboratories where she earned £260 a year . Shirley always had a positive work ethic and even after having children she continued to work and was employed at Sutton and Wallington Woolworths as Office manager as well as at Rosehill Pharmacy .
After retirement she continued with voluntary work at the Royal Marsden and Sutton Hospital.
Shirley successfully battled bowel cancer but was then diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease . 2020 saw a deterioration in her health and she was treated in hospital with heart and breathing problems. She was always anxious to come home to be with her soul mate , Geoff.
Lock down meant that she stayed at home but enjoyed sitting in her garden watching the many birds and squirrels that visited.
Shirley adored her family especially all the grandchildren who she was immensely proud of. They will miss the love, affection and care that she gave them .
Shirley was devastated at the loss of her only son Barry ,who was cruelly taken from her after a heart operation. There is comfort in the fact they are now reunited.
Even whilst battling her own illnesses she was always concerned about others and loved to hear the gossip. She leaves a huge hole in our lives but the memories and love that she gave will always remain.

The family request that donations are given in Shirley’s name to Parkinson’s Research as she always felt this was an overlooked disease and charity .

The service will be held at North East Surrey Crematorium on 8th September 2.40pm however due to ongoing restrictions this will only be for immediate family and those who wish to see the service will be able to log on a webcast,
