Thank you all for taking the time to visit this obituary page for Rodney. Given current circumstances we sadly aren't able to hold a funeral for Dad - he will be buried on the 24th of April and only immediate family will attend. But once life starts to resemble normality again, we'll do something to celebrate his life which we'd love you all to attend.

Rodney will leave a huge hole in the lives of his family and friends. We can't even begin to imagine life without his jokes and his endless loyalty and love. He was taken away from us too soon. But Dad hated people being sad or feeling sorry for him. For that reason, we'd love for this obituary to be memoir to the fun and happiness he brought into all of our lives. So please do share your favourite stories of Rodney, and your favourite photos, or simply light a candle and give a smile. If he's up there watching, we know he'd love to see us all having a good laugh at his expense!

Rodney was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on 22nd February 2020. On the 23rd February, he had emergency surgery to put a stent in his left lung to help him breathe in Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. Sadly, Dad died 5 weeks later but we remain eternally thankful to the team at Papworth for giving him a chance at life and for the phenomenal care that they provided. For this reason, we'd like to raise money for the hospital in Dad's memory. We'll also be raising money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Lung cancer kills more people in the UK than any other cancer, and the foundation funds much needed research to change this reality. If you'd like to make a donation to either of these charities, please click on the links in the top left corner.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all on the other side of lockdown!
