In loving memory of Ivor Hylton Roberts who sadly passed away on 15th February 2020.

Ivor Hylton Roberts “Rob” was born on 19th January 1940 in Wotton-Under-Edge, the second son of Ivor and Eileen Roberts. He had brothers Clive and Paul and Sisters Dawn, Lynette and Claire. He had a happy childhood in Wotton-Under-Edge with his siblings and cousins.

His first job was as a wood cutter, but this was only a stopgap until he joined the RAF in 1957. He was an aircraft fitter in the RAF and reached the rank of sergeant. He had postings in Blackpool,Aden(Yemen) Nottinghamshire, Germany, Wales, Norfolk and Rutland. He also had many detachments all over the world. He very much enjoyed his time in the RAF. Rob left the RAF in 1987. He had a few short term jobs following demob, finally finding his niche in Security in the Civil Service.

In 1967 he married me, Ingrid Ruth Lloyd and daughter Alexandra. In 1970 our son Adrian was born. We had a long and happy marriage.

Rob enjoyed holidays, but most of all loved going to Australia to visit his sister Dawn and her family. He also enjoyed visits by Dawn and her Family. He loved having friends to visit. Rob was a member of the RAFA when he left the RAF and enthusiastically joined in, especially the Annual Melton Day Float. He was also a member of the Royal. British Legion going for a drink with his friends on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

He was a much loved uncle to his nephews and nieces and always kept in touch with them and helping them when he could. Rob was also a lovely husband and father with a very gentle and kind nature. He had many friends around the country and regularly kept in touch with them. He especially liked his annual RAF Reunions.

Rob will be sorely missed by his siblings and their families and by his in-laws Madeline and John, Norma and Geoff and Graham together with his nephew and niece and her family.
