In loving memory of Doreen Leah Barry who sadly passed away on 17th September 2019.

Doreen spent her whole life living in Birmingham, first working as a seamstress before becoming a housewife and raising two children.

Doreen was the warmest, most caring grandmother, frequently called nanna by many children, but being grandmother to six of her own grandchildren. Our amazing, one of a kind Nanna left us in September, after battling Alzheimer’s for many years.

It’s hard to watch the person who raised you, made you the person you are today slowly forget everything, including you. But it was an honour to care for you nanna, you were the most caring, giving, loving person we knew. You were the mother we needed growing up and I hope we do you proud in life.

Towards the end of her life she became quite reclusive before moving into care, sadly not many around her to celebrate her life, but for anyone who knew her in years past and would like to pay their respects, there is her page below, which also includes links to two charities for donations in her honour. Doreen donated to dogs trust for as long as I can remember, so I’ve chosen this for one last donation from her, as well as Alzheimer’s Society.

Doreen was widowed in 1999, and went on 20 years missing and loving her partner, Daniel Barry. May you both be reunited together in peace x

A service in Nanna’s memory will be held on:
Monday 2nd December at 2:30pm
At: Sutton Coldfield Crematorium

Wish I could be at the service, Nanna always had time to chat and was always very generous with the cups of tea.
