Michael requested that men wear brightly coloured ties in his memory.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Had the privilege of teaching Michael while he was at St. Joe’s. A great student and one of my Under 14’s football team. Will be in Italy on the day of the funeral but will certainly light a candle in his memory 💔

45 years ive had this mate through good times bad times and not seen ye for years times. I'm gonnae miss ye Spike but so humbled to watch you fight the hardest of times with a will of power few can dream of . To Maria the kids and the wider family you will always be in my prayers . X

Knew Michael & his family during our teenage years , he was a beautiful person inside and out, our thoughts and prayers are with all the family , rest in peace Michael , condolences to all the family from Martha & Robert Reid and Joan & John Cannon & family .

Even though I sadly didn't get to spend too much time with Uncle Michael, all my memories of him are of what a kind and loving guy he was. May he now rest in peace.
I wish I could be there with the rest of the family during this time.

Michael was so loved by everyone who knew him, because he was was truly one of the good guys;
